Mugisha John

John is extremely focused in school as he understands the great opportunity of a quality education. He began attending Livingstone International University in Mbale in 2018, pursuing a teaching degree. He was able to complete his first year of studies through a work-study program, and began to receive support from CROSO starting in his second year (2019). John has gotten involved in his program, serving as an assistant class coordinator. In addition to his studies, John believes it is important to support those who supported him; he shared that during his school holidays, “I volunteer in teaching rehabilitation classes at C.R.O.”

John’s CROSO Scholarship completed in 2022.

Vision for the Future:

John has a deep regard for the education field, describing it as “the mother of professions,” and he states, “Every teacher inspires me to my goal.” When John graduates and becomes a teacher himself, he will continue this cycle of inspiration guiding other youths on the path toward their future.

More on John’s Background:

John grew up learning how to be independent. His grandmother raised him in the slums of Mbale, and C.R.O. has also helped guide John since 2003. John’s strong, yet gentle independence was evident in his countless leadership activities in secondary school from gathering friends for devotion to starting a retail shop of paraffin and food items. He also works hard in school and was able to achieve first class standings.
