Brian started pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at Uganda Christian University in Human Resource management in 2017. Following his first year, he applied for the CROSO scholarship because he was no longer able to afford classes. Brian was selected and began his CROSO Scholarship in 2018. In addition to his dedication in the classroom, he has taken on the responsibility of being a class coordinator for his course unit in Human Resource Management and organizes his classmates and lecturer for class. Along with this, Brian is very involved in coaching a children's sports team and is captain of his own football team.

In 2019, Brian was also able to secure an internship from January to April with the Mbale Municipal Local Government Council as a member of the Human Resource team. This internship has allowed him to gain much-needed experience in the field and put the knowledge he has learned from his schooling into practice. He writes, “I am curious about starting to work, because I have been taught so many things during my internship...I am excited to put this experience and knowledge into my first job.”

In his first semester of his third year, Brian is excited about his courses in Company Law, Industrial Psychology, and Human Resource Training. He recognizes that he still has a lot to learn, and continues to rise toward his dreams.

Brian’s Vision for the Future:

Once he graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Brian hopes to be able to manage his own business and to further his skills in this area. In Brian’s CROSO application, he stated “the employment crisis in the country-influenced me to work in this field,” which reinforces what we already know about Brian being a focused, driven, and forward-thinking student.

More about Brian’s Background:

Wokwaba Brian is a CROSO scholar who rises above challenges. At a young age, first his father then his mother abandoned his family. Unable to afford rent, Brian and his two siblings had no option but to live on the streets. Despite these hardships, Brian found support from CRO and continued his schooling. Brian not only studied hard, but involved himself in different activities outside the classroom like football and working at a coffee nursery. Balancing work and study was a challenge, but one that Brian took head on! Brian was even able to pay for the first year of his university studies based on money he had earned!
