Seeking New Board Members

New BoD positions (2).png

CROSO has been so fortunate to have incredible leaders serve as board members over the past 13+ years. One of the greatest strengths of our organization has ben the collaboration of people with different perspectives, skills, and experiences.

We have space for a few new board members in 2021 and we’re welcoming interest. If you or someone you know would like to get involved, please read through the position details and complete the interest form using the button below. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Albert@CROSO.org.

CROSO Board Position Posting

Volunteer Position:    CROSO Board Member

Term of Service:          3 years, renewable

Accountable To:           CROSO Board President and CROSO Executive Director

CROSO’s Mission:        CROSO is dedicated to making possible the transformation of Ugandan communities by providing post-secondary education scholarships to former street children.

Expectations:

  1. Participate in all 4 annual CROSO Board of Directors meetings.

    1. Members are expected to participate either in person or via video chat. In non-COVID times, board meetings are held in the Chicago area. Since March of 2020, we've held all meetings virtually, regardless of board member location.

    2. We understand that emergencies happen and important family functions (weddings, etc.) get scheduled without checking everyone’s calendars.

    3. However, if more than one meeting is missed in a calendar year, that board member will be removed from the board for the following year.

  2. Actively participate on at least one committee.

    1. Participate in at least 75% of those meetings either in person or via phone.

    2. If the board member cannot be present for the committee meeting, a conversation with the chair of that committee will need to be scheduled for it to count as participation.

  3. Act as an ambassador for CROSO in the community.

    1. Share with others that you are involved in this work. (This can include friends, family, colleagues, announcements to your alumni chapters, etc.)

    2. When opportunities arise, help network on behalf of CROSO.

  4. Contribute new names to our email and mailing lists.

  5. Fill at least one table at the annual benefit each year.

    1. This obligation can be met through the board member purchasing the table ($1,000 per table) and inviting guests for free or getting 9 individuals to purchase their own seats at your table.

    2. If it is not possible for the board member to fill a table, then he/she must contribute substantially to CROSO's fundraising efforts in a different way. Previous board members have done this by rallying support for #CROSOcommits (our online day of giving in April), sponsoring a scholar, hosting a fundraising event in your area, etc.
