Sad news

It is with heavy hearts that we, the CROSO Board of Directors and staff, share with the larger CROSO community that CROSO Scholar, Korobe Andrew, passed away on August 17, 2020.

When Andrew began as a CROSO Scholar in 2017, we were impressed by his leadership and problem solving skills. As Andrew entered his Bachelor’s degree program at Kampala International University, he had a clear goal of becoming a social worker. After starting his studies, he focused his energy on community development hoping to address challenges faced in his community. Andrew embodied so many of the values that we celebrate among our CROSO Scholars. This is an enormous loss for Andrew’s family, friends, and tribe, as well as the CROSO community. 

We are so saddened by this news and recognize that we are not alone in this grief over the loss of Andrew. We have been in touch with all of the CROSO Scholars and graduates, and are working through our scholars to send condolences to Andrew’s family. We continue to express our sympathies to all those who knew and loved Andrew, especially his family. The CROSO Board of Directors met in August to discuss how to honor Andrew’s life moving forward and we will provide more details once those plans have been confirmed.
