Angolere Michael

2019 Michael.JPG

Michael has always been someone who is eager to learn and to make a difference in his community and eventually, in Uganda. Michael began classes at Uganda Christian University in 2019 pursuing a degree in law with a specialization in human rights, peace and humanitarian intervention.

Vision for the Future:

Michael hopes to one day become a human rights lawyer. In his application to become a CROSO scholar, he stated, “I hope to be a voice for the voiceless in my country.” Michael understands first hand the immense corruption that occurs across Uganda and wants to assist in helping those who may suffer as a result.

More on Michael’s Background:

Michael has always had a passion for helping others. Due to violence and alcoholism in his home, Michael went to the streets, but while there he didn’t just fend for himself. His experiences on the street consisted of sorting coffee beans, or scavenging the streets for scrap metal to sell in order to buy food for his mother, stepfather, and eight siblings. With the help of C.R.O., Michael was able to return to school. Throughout secondary school, Michael was an active participant in the patriotism club, wildlife club, and the musical club. He has also volunteered at C.R.O as a peer educator advocating for child protection and participating in street outreaches. Michael’s teachers throughout secondary school describe him as “A peace maker… He is very polite, humble, respectful, obedient and committed.”
